Former Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has made a notable transition into the Nigerian film industry, Nollywood.

Following her removal from the ministerial position in October 2024, Kennedy-Ohanenye embraced filmmaking, recently announcing her latest project, Hatred.

The 40-minute film, which she produced and stars in, was released on her YouTube channel on February 4, 2025, and has garnered attention from audiences.

Kennedy-Ohanenye’s foray into Nollywood is not entirely new; she has previously been involved in the industry as a producer, with works such as Mama Onboard, The Senator, The Governor, and The President to her credit.

Her return to filmmaking underscores her versatility and passion for storytelling, even after her tenure in public office.

In her political career, Kennedy-Ohanenye was appointed as the Minister of Women Affairs in August 2023 but was relieved of her duties in October 2024 during a cabinet reshuffle by President Bola Tinubu.

Prior to her ministerial role, she was the first female presidential aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023, before stepping down to support Tinubu.

Her diverse experiences in law, politics, and now a renewed focus on Nollywood, highlight her multifaceted career trajectory.
