Nigerian singer and global sensation, Tems, has pulled the plug on her highly anticipated concert in Rwanda, citing the ongoing conflict in the region.
The “Free Mind” crooner, known for her smooth vocals and effortless cool, announced the cancellation with a heavy heart, telling fans she had no choice but to prioritize safety. “I love my Rwandan fans, but abeg, I no fit dey sing ‘Crazy Tings’ when crazy things dey happen for real,” she reportedly said, hinting that even her signature sunglasses couldn’t shield her from the reality of the situation.
Fans in Rwanda, who had been looking forward to vibing to her hits, expressed disappointment but understood the situation. “We were ready to sing ‘Try Me,’ but right now, na peace we suppose dey try find,” one fan lamented on social media.
Meanwhile, some Nigerians, ever the comedians, joked that Tems should have performed virtually via WhatsApp voice note. Others simply prayed for a quick resolution so she could reschedule.
While the cancellation stings, Tems reassured fans that she’s looking forward to performing in Rwanda once the situation improves. “Make una hold my ticket, I go come back,” she promised. In the meantime, she urged everyone to stay safe and keep streaming her music—because, as one witty fan put it, “whether war or peace, Tems’ voice go still give us goosebumps.”
