Niger State governor, Umar Bago, on Wednesday, doled out over N224 million to victims of the recent explosion at Sabon-Pegi in Mashegu Local Government Areaq.
The governor, who paid a sympathy visit to the people, expressed sadness over the havoc wrecked by the explosion.
The state government gave out N174 million, while a former governor and Senator representing Niger North, Alhaji Abubakar Sani-Bello donated N50 million.
AljazirahNigeria gathered that about 69 individuals were affected in the explosion out of which four deaths were recorded and many houses destroyed.
The governor, who was furious about the incident, expressed his displeasure to people for allowing such explosives to be kept in the community.
Governor Bago asked them to surrender any explosives in their possession to the authorities to prevent reoccurrence.
Details of the financial assistance distributed by the governor include N5 million for completely damaged homes, N2 million for partially damaged properties and N1 million for injured persons, while N2 million is for families of those who lost their lives, while N1 million was for those whose vehicles were impacted.
