Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Sokoto State Command has apprehended three suspects connected to the abduction and gang-raping of a 15-year-old girl, Amina Abdullahi, in Gantsare village, Wammako Local Government Area.

The suspects, identified as Halidu Shehu, 20 years, (principal suspect), Jamilu Umar, 20, and Usama Bello, 24, were arrested by the corps on January 23 after a report was filed by the victim’s parents who had been searching for their missing daughter.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Zayyanu, in a statement, said the suspects held the victim captive for over three days in the principal suspect’s room, subjecting her to repeated sexual assault.

According to Zayyanu, preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was drugged and lured by one Rabia’tu who has been at large and efforts are underway to apprehend her, while the victim has been receiving medical attention with results from the examination being awaited to aid the ongoing investigation.

State Commandant of the corps, UI Alfadarai, who spoke through his aide, CSC Aliyu Jamilu, described the act as “horrific and inhumane.”

He assured the general public of the command’s commitment to ensure that the suspects face the full weight of the law.

The command called on all stakeholders, including religious and community leaders, to work together in building a society free from such heinous crimes.
