NSCDC Arrests 10  In Gombe For Various Crimes

Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has paraded 10 suspects for various crimes, including vandalism, theft, escape from custody, and sodomy.

While parading the suspects, the state commandant of the corps, Gyama Gyawiya outlined the details of each case and provided updates on ongoing investigations.

According to Gyawiya, one suspect was apprehended on December 20, 2024, for repeatedly vandalising facilities belonging to the North-East Development Commission, NEDC. 

He was caught with stolen meters and confessed to being a serial offender, admitting to stealing copper wires and selling them in Mile 3, Akko Local Government Area while efforts are ongoing to arrest his accomplices.

In another incident, 19-year-old Isma’il Mohammed was arrested in Kwami Local Government Area for stealing aluminum power transmission cables that connected local villages.

The suspect confessed to selling the stolen cables at Yelenguruza in Gombe. Investigators are currently working to track down the accomplices he named.

On January 14, 2025, three suspects Mohammed Adamu (21), Usman Mu’azu (17), and Al-Hassan Mohammed (17) were arrested for breaking into a house on Abacha Road, Jekadafari, in Gombe metropolis. They stole a bag of maize, part of which has been recovered.

Muhammad Abubakar, also known as “Alhaji,” was rearrested after escaping from NSCDC custody in 2023. He had been detained on charges of same-sex acts and other offences. In January 2025, he was accused of robbing two individuals of their mobile phones and money.

In a case of unnatural offences, a 30-year-old man, Dantala Babaniya, was arrested for allegedly sodomizing a 13-year-old boy, Abubakar Mohammed. The victim also implicated two other minors, Victor Clement (11) and Abdurrahman Ukasha (11), in similar acts. The NSCDC is conducting further investigations.

Two additional suspects, Babangida Mohammed and Mubarak Mohammed, both aged 18, were arrested on January 13, 2025, for stealing two goats in Kagarawal, Gombe Local Government Area. The suspects slaughtered one of the goats, while efforts are ongoing to recover the second goat and apprehend other accomplices still at large.

Gyawiya assured the public that all suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations. He also urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies to enhance public safety.
