Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Cross River State Command  said  it arrested no fewer than 126 persons for various offences between January and December 2024.

Its spokesperson, John Eremi disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN in Calabar, yesterday.

Eremi also said that  11 of these cases were charged to court within the period under review.

He said from the cases in court, three persons were convicted.

According to Eremi, the command recorded zero arrest for crude oil theft in the same period.

“Even with the bitter experience the command went through in 2024 when our office roof was blown off by the wind, we still recorded some level of successes.

“From the 126 arrests made, 10 were for illegal mining, while 116 were for other sundry offences,” he stated.

Eremi, said aside the challenge of office accommodation, the command also lack operational vehicles, as well as shortage of manpower.
