In its renewed efforts to ensure total clampdown on vandals, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA)has uncover an Abuja based iron smelting company as one of the receivers of the stolen manhole covers.
Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communication and New Media, Lere Olayinka made this known in Abuja on Monday
According to him, the company which is located along Abuja- Kaduna road had ‘exhibit of interest’ which was recovered from it and are in custody of the Police.
He said further investigations is still going on as to the company and others’ involvement in the removal, purchase and melting of the manhole covers.
Olayinka explained: “Recalled that it was made public yesterday that arrests and recoveries were made by both the Police and NSCDC.
“The arrested persons are helping the security agencies with useful information about the buyers of the vandalized infrastructure.
” Also, as directed by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, replacement of the manhole covers that were removed by the vandals commenced yesterday.
