House of Representatives has extended warm Christmas greetings to all Nigerians celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and the enduring message of hope, love and peace that the season brings.

This was contained in a statement signed by spokesman of the House, Hon. Akin Rotimi, yesterday.

“Christmas is a time to reflect on the values that unite us as a people – compassion, generosity, and forgiveness.

“These values, exemplified in the life of Jesus Christ, are not only pillars of faith but also essential for fostering harmony and progress in our diverse nation,” the statement said.

It quoted the Speaker of the House, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, as urging for love and unity that transcend religious and ethnic divides.

The speaker, according to the statement, explained that Christmas signified newness and fulfillment even as he called for all Nigerians to use the period for a national rebirth.

Abbas also urged Christians and all Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for a new Nigeria, one that aligned with collective dreams and for the country’s leadership, particularly the political, religious and traditional leaders.

Meanwhile, the spokesman also used the opportunity to emphasise the 10th House’s readiness to promote the welfare of every Nigerian adding that

“It is our prayer that the joy and light of Christmas fill every home and strengthens the bonds of love and unity across our country”, Rotimi said.
