Delta State Head of Service, HoS, Mr Reginald Bayoko, has emphasized the crucial role that pharmacists play in the healthcare sector, urging those in the public service to maintain high professional standards.

During a courtesy visit from the Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria, AHAPN, Delta State Chapter, led by its Chairman, Pharmacist Stella Onyegasi, Mr Bayoko acknowledged the Delta State government’s commitment to harness its workforce’s potentials for effective service delivery.

He noted that healthcare delivery remains a top priority for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.

The head of service assured the delegation that government is exploring solutions to address the challenges faced by pharmacists.

Onyegasi had earlier highlighted the various issues affecting pharmacists in the state, which include acute shortage of pharmacists due to the ‘japa’ syndrome and request for appointment of pharmacy consultants.

She emphasized the need for proper integration of pharmacists into the healthcare value chain administration as critical stakeholders.

The visit underscores the importance of collaboration between professional bodies and government to achieve sustainable development in Delta State.

By recognising the vital role that pharmacists play, the state government demonstrates its commitment to improve healthcare delivery and promote dialogue with key stakeholders.
