Chief of Air Staff, CAS, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar has urged officers to internalise the principles of accountability and professionalism in all logistical operations of the Nigerian Air Force, NAF.
Abubakar made the call at the 2024 Logistics Conference with the theme, “Enhancing Nigerian Air Force Operations for Robust National Security Through Proactive Logistics Support and Strong Maintenance Culture”, in Abuja.
He said proactive logistics support would enhance the efficiency and resilience of NAF’s supply chains, directly contributing to high serviceability rates necessary for sustained airpower delivery in furtherance of national security objectives.
He also urged them to embrace innovation, uphold discipline and work with unyielding commitment to achieve his command philosophy.
“I wish to remind us all that logistics is linked to every aspect of our tasks as an Air Force.
“To sustain air power, we must sustain the systems, processes and people that make it possible.
“It is therefore, incumbent upon us to internalise the principles of accountability and professionalism in all logistical operations.
“Together, through proactive logistics support and a robust maintenance culture, we will maintain the operational readiness of NAF and ensure the defence of our great nation,” he said.
Noting that achieving logistical feat requires focused investment in capacity building of logistics personnel, Abubakarsaid NAF’s logistics personnel are being trained in predictive analysis to forecast maintenance schedules, spare parts requirements and resource allocation.
“In the last 18 months, several logistics personnel have undergone various courses at home and abroad to strengthen their capacity and equip them with the requisite skills and tools for enhanced service delivery.
“I am also pleased to inform you that we have now made it mandatory to include training packages for our logistics personnel as part of any aircraft acquisition contract.”
