Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development, North-West Zonal Office has formally been inaugurated in Jigawa State.

This highlights the state’s commitment to advance the welfare of women and children under the leadership of Governor Umar Namadi.
Director-General of the centre, Asabe Bashir led the management team to pay a courtesy visit to Governor Namadi to express gratitude for his administration’s support in establishing the zonal office.
The centre’s programmes include vocational training, artisanship and capacity-building in non-traditional trades such as electrical works and plumbing, which provide women with unique opportunities for self-sufficiency.
The director-general commended Jigawa State for its strategic support, adding that the initiative would serve as a hub for addressing gender-based violence, political inclusion and economic empowerment.
“Yesterday, we went round the new office and we were very happy. This makes Jigawa the first zonal office in the country, thanks to your proactive leadership,” Bashir said.
In response, Governor Namadi restated his administration’s dedication to support the center, highlighting its crucial role in uplifting women.
“Government will do everything possible to support the office and staff. As you said, women constitute the majority of the population in this country and the same applies to the state.
“As politicians, we know the contribution of women. It is our responsibility to care for every resident of the state, particularly women. In fact, if there is any priority, it should be given to them. The Women Development Centre is a commendable initiative that offers numerous benefits for women,” the governor said.
