FROM RAHILA ABDULLAHI, KADUNA

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has called on youths to stay away from internet fraud.

Executive Chairman of the commission,  Ola Olukoyede gave the advice while addressing youths comprising NYSC members, students from various schools and civil society organisations during a town hall meeting in Kaduna, in commemoration of the 2024 International Anti-Corruption Day.

Olukoyede, who was represented by the Kaduna zonal director, said youths have formidable roles to play in the fight against corruption.

He said they could unite against corruption by exposing tendencies and actions that run counter to accountability and right values in their neighbourhood.

Olukoyede noted that there is no way corruption could be tackled if we allow it around us without a challenge, adding that youths have a formidable role to play in the fight against cyber crimes.

“It is high time youths join hands together to pursue values that will add strength to their lives.

“There are structures in place for active engagement with youths at the EFCC.  At the primary and secondary school level, we have the Integrity Club, which serves as a rally point for students. At tertiary institutions, we have the Zero Tolerance Club.

“They are all platforms for engagement against corrupt practices,” Olukoyede said.

According to him,  youths need collaborative efforts for progressive innovation, noting that they cannot achieve this in a corrupt environment.
