Yobe State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Yajalo Badama has empowered 178 women ward leaders across the 17 local government areas to improve their livelihood.
The commissioner said the distribution of the deep freezers was directed by Governor Mai Mala Buni.
The event, which took place at various local government secretariats, was witnessed by local government chairmen, women leaders and other government officials.
Launching the distribution, Hajiya Badama emphasised the importance of women’s role in community development, livelihood and food security.
“Women are the back bone of our communities and it is essential that we provide them with the necessary resources to help them thrive economically,” she said.
According to her, the intervention is aimed at empowering women in addition to helping in food preservation in local communities,” the commissioner said.
The commissioner equally stated that the deep freezers are expected to boost food preservation and enhance the beneficiaries economic stability.
“This administration is always ready to empower women and as such, I urge you to pay your alligence to the Buni-led administration.
“This empowerment is one of Governor Buni’s efforts to reduce the economic hardship that the country is facing. Do not to sell or misuse the item given to you by the governor.”
In his response, the Chairman, Fika Local Government Council, Abdullah Gadaka lauded Governor Buni for empowering women at this critical moment.
He also commended the governor for the support, pledging to be loyal and support his administration.
