Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun has warned youths to eschew behaviours capable of causing violence in the November 16 local government election.

Abiodun, who gave the warning on Saturday at the 2024 Odun Omo Olowu in Abeokuta, urged the youths to shun behaviours that could lead to chaos during the polls.

The governor had on Friday asked for the support of residents to vote for the All Progressives Congress, APC, during a meeting with the 20 chairmanship, 236 councilorship candidates and local government party chairmen of the ruling party.

He boasted that APC remains the party to beat in the election.

Abiodun said his administration had brought infrastructure and good government closer to the people, expressing confidence that the party will win the chairmanship and councillorship seats in the 20 local governments.

He reminded the gathering that the process that led to their emergence was meticulous, intentional and deliberate, noting that none of the candidates emerged by accident.

“There is none of you that emerged by accident because I will not allow us to place the local government in the hands of anyone who will be an accidental chairman.

“So, I am taking this local government election seriously. I am not leaving anything to chance and that is why I have been particularly concerned and involved in ensuring that we identify those who are the right fit for our local governments,” he said.

Earlier, the State Chairman of APC, Chief Yemi Sanusi disclosed that the strength of the party must be entrenched, adding that candidates must go out to campaign and ensure they come out victorious.
