A publication that focuses on counter-insurgency in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, reported that Daji was killed on Sunday by members of a rival faction, leaving his body at the scene.

Daji was widely known for his involvement in various criminal activities, including leading violent attacks along Kwatarkwashi-Mada road and surrounding areas.

His stronghold was in Shangel village, located in the east of Mada town.
