IGP Presents Cheques To Families Of Deceased Police Officers

Date:

From Henry Ibya, Makurdi

Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, Thursday, presented cheques worth N45,887,000 to 43 beneficiaries of the police welfare scheme in Makurdi, Benue State.

Egbetokun, represented by the Benue State Commissioner of Police, Hasan Yabanet, said the money given to the families of deceased police officers would cushion the effect of the death on the families within the first one year.

The IGP, in a statement by the Benue Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sewuese Anene, sympathised with the bereaved families, whom he advised to invest the funds into businesses that would help them become self reliant as they wait for other benefits from the force.

Responding, the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the IGP for remembering them within a very short time, emphasising that it had not been this easy with them after the demise of their bread winners.
