The Government of Korea, through the South Korea International Cooperation Association of Nigeria (SKICAN), has donated N10,000,000 to the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) to support emergency relief activities for flood victims in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The donation was officially presented by the Country Director of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Mr. Son Sungil, and the President of SKICAN, Mr. Joseph Oboh, to representatives of the NMA at a ceremony held today.

He said, the funds will be used to implement critical emergency interventions, including the provision of medical assistance, relief supplies, and essential services to the affected communities.

“This donation is part of Korean government’s broader commitment to providing humanitarian aid and supporting disaster relief efforts in Nigeria. Korean government is currently working with ICRC on the improvement of primary health services for conflict-affected communities in Borno State”.

Mr. Son Sungil emphasized KOICA’s dedication to fostering partnerships that strengthen local health systems and improve the resilience of vulnerable populations. “We are proud to stand with all members of SKICAN in providing timely assistance to those affected by this natural disaster. Our commitment is to ensure that these resources will go a long way in delivering relief to flood-affected communities,” he said.

The NMA expressed gratitude for the generous contribution and highlighted that the donation would play a significant role in addressing the immediate medical needs of flood victims. With this support, the NMA will be better equipped to manage and respond to the health challenges that have arisen as a result of the flooding.
