Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, would continue to operate in line with the established practice that recognises serving governors as leaders of the party in their respective states.
The governor was speaking on the lingering leadership crisis in Rivers State between Governor Simi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, during a meeting with members of the party’s National Working Committee, NWC, held at the Government House, Bauchi.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, Governor Mohammed said they agreed on the need to respect the rule of law and the principles that established the party to foster unity and deepen democracy at all levels.
The governor, who is the chairman of PDP Governors Forum, stressed the need for a strong working collaboration between the National Working Committee and the Forum towards establishing a formidable structure during the forthcoming PDP national congress.
He expressed confidence that in 2027, PDP will produce the next president of the country.
AljazirahNigeria learnt that the six-man delegation of the national working committee was led by the party’s National Legal Adviser, Kamaludden Ajibade (SAN).
