Senator Oyewumi Empowers Over 200 Market Women With Cash , Skills

As part of efforts to promote grassroots economic development, Senate Deputy Minority Leader, Akogun Lere Oyewumi representing Osun West Senatorial District, yesterday empowered over 200 market women of Osun West  Senatorial district.

The disbursed amounts, which were a part of the funds allocated during a skill acquisition programme meant to help the women run their businesses smoothly, were in a long term plan by the senator to educate and empower women in his area of representation.

The beneficiaries  appreciated the intervention and the women vowed to make good use of the assistance granted to them by the Senator. Every one of them rejoiced at the generosity of Senator Oyewumi, describing how he has made great efforts to solve their financial problems. They described the initiative as opportunities, stressing that the money received will help in improving their businesses and and their lives.

Hon. Ayodele Yemi, a Special Adviser to the Governor, representing  the Governor also endorsed Senator Oyewumi’s virtue. She  appreciated the Senator for sponsoring projects for the people and that such projects were consistent with the policies of the state government aimed at enhancing the people’s and women’s ability to do so.

The event was attended by community leaders, religious leaders and political stakeholders across Osun West.
