Committee sets up by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission OSSIEC, to verify certificates and documents submitted by candidates of various political parties jostling for various political offices in the forthcoming local governments election.
Receiving the report at the Commission’s office in Osogbo, Chairman, Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, Bar. Hashim Abioye disclosed that the findings of the committee will guide the commission in determining eligibility of candidates who have shown interest in contesting for the Chairmanship and Councillorship positions in the 2025 local government elections in the state.
He, however, allayed the fears of candidates that no one will be disqualified unjustly as the report will be subjected to further scrutiny.
He appreciated members of the committee for their time and dedication which yielded the outcome of the report.
Bar. Abioye announced that the committee would continue to function as a Standing Advisory Committee for OSSIEC ahead of the conduct of the local governments election.
In his response, Chairman of the Verification Committee, Alhaji Abdulateef Olayanyu appreciated the commission for the opportunity given to have served the state meritoriously, disclosing that it is heartwarming to continue to work with the commission in the capacity of a Standing Advisory Committee.
He prayed for the success of the commission as it continue to plan for the conduct of local government elections next year.
The 15-member committee was inaugurated on Monday, September 2nd, 2024 to verify certificates and documents submitted by candidates of various political parties jostling for various political offices in the 2025 local governments election in Osun State.
The event was witnessed by officials of the Commission and members of the Verification Committee.
