Borno state Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has engaged the service of a renowned Adamawa born crime- fighter Hajiya Aisha Bakari Gombi to help the Boko Haram plagued state.

In a statement by Danjuma Ali, permanent secretary Administration and General Service, for the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) which was made available to Aljazirah Nigeria in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, said the appointment was based on Aisha Gombi’s track record as it urged her to justify the confidence reposed in her. “The appointment is with effect from 7 December.

“I am pleased to inform you that His Excellency. Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has approved your appointment as Special Assistant to His Excellency.

“Your appointment is based on your personal merit, wealth of experience, dedication to duty and service to your community.

“It is expected that you will uphold the dignity of your office and justify the confidence reposed in you by discharging the responsibilities diligently so as to achieve the full implementation of all Government policies and programmes including His Excellency’s 10-Pact Agenda as well as Borno Development Plan, particularly in the area of your jurisdiction, ” it stated.

Our correspondent gathered that the female hunter being referred as “Sarauniyar Maharba ” literally means chief female hunter in Nigeria is helping Nigeria troops and other security operatives in the fight against Boko Haram, banditry and other social vices in the North East Nigeria.

Aisha Bakari Gombi popularly known as Sarauniya Maharban Najeriya ” Queen of Nigerian hunters ” always look calm and resolute but easy to strikes when the need arise. She is about six feet tall with intimidating posture.”

Mrs Gombi, a 39- year-old female hunter leads a command of men aged 15-30, who usually employ sign language, animal sounds and even birdsong to communicate.

Aisha’s wealth of experience and knowledge of forests have made her the leader of a team of 10-20 male volunteers despite her limited training in military operations.

Every day, Aisha slings shotgun over her shoulder, ventures into the shrubs of Adamawa or Borno, , hunting down Boko Haram fighters and other miscreants.

She has been instrumental in the rescue of a high number of Boko Haram captives, and she is in the frontline and Centre in the efforts to neutralise the terrorist group.

Sarauniya was recently honored for her resilience and doggedness in the fight against insurgency and other criminal activities within and outside Adamawa.

Activities for nearly nine years said that there were thousands of hunters in the region who have been enlisted by the military on an ad hoc basis, ”but Aisha is one of only a handful of women involved, and she has become a heroine for hunters and local people alike with her gallantry winning her the title of queen hunter.
