Zulum Appoints Chairman, CMD For Borno Teaching Hospital

Governor Babagana Zulum has approved the appointment of the chairman of the Board of Management, Chief Medical Director, CMD, and key administrative officers for Borno University Teaching Hospital.

The appointments were contained in a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, on Sunday in Maiduguri.

According to the statement, the Chief Medical Director of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, UMTH, Professor Ahmed Ahidjo,  will serve as the Chairman of the management board, while Professor Ibrahim Kida is the new CMD.

Professor Kida is a Fellow and Senior Registrar  of the West African College of Physicians specialising in infectious diseases and epidemiology with a special interest in HIV/AIDS management.

He is also a member of the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria, MDCAN, and the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA.

Zulum also appointed Ali Mohammed as the Director of Administration of the hospital and Secretary to the Management Board. 

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy from Schiller International University, Dunedin, Florida, USA.

Other members of the management board include representatives of the Ministry of Health, Medical College, BOŞU, Senate of Borno State University,  NMA, Allied Health Professionals in Borno, UMTH and the vice chancellor of Borno State University.

Others include Abba Bashir Marte, Samson Dibal, and Dr Musa Aji, who will represent public interest from the three senatorial districts. 

“Our goal is to provide our people with the best possible healthcare, while also training the next generation of medical professionals,” the governor said.

The statement noted that all the appointments were subject to confirmation by the House of Assembly.
