Zamfara Assembly Partner NGO Reform Of Almajiri

Zamfara State House of Assembly has assured its readiness in creating a conducive atmosphere and legal framework for proper reintegration of Almajiri reform initiative with the Western education in the state.


The House will also ensure speedy dissemination of this idea and information to all the nooks and crannies of the state.

This assertion was given by the Speaker zamfara state House of Assembly Nasiru Mu’azu when he received an audience of Executive Members of KDC Foundation a non governmental Organisation based in Kano whose primary objective is to reform Almajiri and Tsangaya system of education to be in conformity with Western Education in Key Northwestern states of the federation week end.

Speaker Magarya who expressed satisfaction with the thinking and reasoning of these crop of young personalities of reintegrating Tsangaya System of Education into the main stream system of Education in Nigeria said all hands must be on deck to ensure the success of this laudable  initiative.

Mu’azu further informed his visitors that only recently the state legislature under his leadership passed into law a bill prohibiting all forms of distractions of young persons during school hours an indication according to him that the state House of Assembly and KDC foundation are on the same page on the matter.

Mu’azu promised to always synergise with the NGO in realising this dream.

Earlier in his speech the Project Director KDC foundation Khalifa Usman said the foundation started with only one local government area in Kano somewhere in the year 2014  as a complementary role to the then president Goodluck Jonathan’s Almajiri System of Education but now has a wider coverage of six Northwestern states of Nigeria with Zamfara state inclusive.

He said their core mandate is how to review the curriculum of Tsangaya schools to reintegrate them with modern system of Education in Nigeria.

He further said that the strict implementation of the guidelines of the curriculum in each of the six states selected as well as inculcating leaning and skills acquisition and should be a community driven initiative. 

Khalifa then solicit for the support and corporation of the lawmakers in making a law that will pave way for the smooth take off of the programme in the state and also logical implementation of the initiative in all the state constituencies of the lawmakers .
