The Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, has said that he will continue to prioritize social support through empowerment schemes and training for youths, women and other, as part of efforts to cushion current socio-economic across the country,
According to him, the State Government will also prioritize community engagement through local government councils, traditional institutions, and other relevant stakeholders in order to ensure that people across the state are fully informed about government policies and programmes and are carried on board in their implementation.
The Commissioner for Home Affairs Information and Culture, Hon. Abdullahi Bego who disclosed while briefing Journalists on the outcome of the meeting.
He said meeting chaired by Governor Mala Buni, at the Government House, Damaturu with Chairmen of local government councils, 14 Emirs of the state and other senior government officials and some members of the state executive council.
He said that the meeting emphasized the need for local government and traditional councils to continue to attend to local and community issues in a way that strengthens trust, good neighborliness, and community cohesion.
According to him the meeting also stressed the need to provide more avenues for skills and craft training to support young people who want to learn and set up small or medium businesses or go into agriculture and food production.
They have also commended the state government for empowerment support to women and youths across the state, especially the recent multi-billion Naira agricultural empowerment programme launched by the President.
He urged the state government to work to ensure that the items reach the intended beneficiaries across the 17 local government areas.
He added that the meeting also called on people to remain law abiding and to continue to pray to Almighty Allah for the security, peace and prosperity of the state and the nation in general.
