The police Commissioner of yobe state command, Garba Ahmed, has confirmed that the command have arrested notorious Ganga leader Haruna Mohammed 40 year old.
In a statement signed by public Relations office police command DSP, Dungus Abdulkarim, which was made available to AljazirahNigeira, said reiterated that there is no hiding place for criminals in Yobe State, whether in urban or rural areas.
He said that the command had been tracking Mohammed for his involvement in terrorizing towns, villages, and neighbouring states
Hence, the command has recorded another significant success in its quest to rid the state of criminal elements has been apprehended by the State Intelligent Department (SID).
Mohammed, a specializes in demanding money and valuables from victims through menacing phone calls, threatening death, or harm.
A victim from Siminti Village, Lantewa, Tarmuwa Local governments for Area reported that Mohammed demanded N3,000,000.00 or threatened to kill him and his family.
Statement added that an Intensive Intelligent Operations, on 16th May 2024, at about 1415hrs, detectives from the SID, in a coordinated operation, arrested Mohammed in Nangillam Village, Tarmuwa LGA
The suspect confessed to the crime and implicated other syndicate members, who are currently being trailed by the police.
The Commissioner of Police warned that anyone with a criminal tendency will face stiff resistance.
He also urged communities to report any form of aggressive attacks, attempts, or commission of crime to the police and called for adequate support to ensure security in the state.
