Yobe Lawmaker Mourns as Two Lawmakers Die Within A Week

Less then a week after the death of a Member of the House of Representatives representing Jos North/Bassa federal constituency of Plateau State, Hon.Haruna Ibrahim Maitala, in a car crash on Friday on his way to Jos, another member of the House, Hon. Suleiman Aliyu Lere, has died at the age of 53

Yobe federal lawmaker House of Representative, and chairman House committee on North east development commission, who was representing Damaturu, Gulani, Gujba and Tarmuwa federal constituency of yobe stste, Hon Hajiya Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim, has condole the family of the two members of the federal House

In a statement signed by her which was made available to newsmen, “extended her commiserated with the government and good people of Plateau, Kaduna State and the National Assembly on the passing away of  our colleague’s,  described they death as a great loss to Nigeria as democracy

“I am always touched by the death of dedicated and creative public servants
like Hon.

Haruna, Lere. We should emulate such rare and hardworking Nigerians for the progress of our country, she said.”

Khadija lauded the late lawmakers, who they noted, stood out on the quality of contributions on the floor, their pragmatism and their work to strengthen the institution of the legislature.

We shall sorely miss his vibrancy and progressive mindset. But now that he is no more, we cannot query Almighty Allah over the incident because He gives and takes as it pleases him. The late Hon Haruna, Lere was forthright and gentle in all his dealings,

She also expressed grief at two members death, and described it as a heavy blow to the House and the entire nation, was a fine gentleman, diligent, perceptive and humble.

The statement added that she described  lawmakers as a fine gentleman who exhibited high moral disposition and earned respect from his colleagues and associates, This is a great loss and painful one for that matter, especially coming at a time when we are still mourning the passing away of our colleagues, and still lawmaker death

He was a respected lawmaker, a fine gentleman who carried himself with a lot of dignity and contributed immensely to the growth of the parliament and democracy in general.

AljazirahNigeria, recall that Hon. Lere died Tuesday afternoon at the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in Kaduna after a brief illness,  the deceased was reinstated as member of the House by a Court of Appeal verdict in September, 2020 after about two-year pre- election legal tussle.

She send her condolences to the family members, friends and professional colleagues of the legislators, prayed that Allah will bless and forgive the soul of the deceased.
