In commemoration of World Polio Day 2024, the District Governor of Rotary International, District 9127 Nigeria, Mike Ukachi on Wednesday emphasized the importance of routine polio immunization for children.
He encouraged parents to prioritize their children’s health by getting them vaccinated. This call to action is especially crucial in Nigeria, where Rotary International has actively championed polio eradication efforts.
Ukachi who made the call in Abuja during a routine sensitization programme for parents, said availing children for polio immunization field workers would help the country to totally eradicate polio.
By urging parents to avail their children for routine polio immunization, Governor Ukachi is reinforcing the importance of collective action in preventing the spread of polio. This message is particularly relevant in regions where the virus remains a concern.
He therefore urged Parents to avail their children for routine polio immunization to save them from any form of disability and physical impairments.
He applauded the federal government for their support and efforts towards total eradication of polio across the country.
On her part, the District Polio Plus Committe Chair in District 9127, Rotarian Dr. Khadijat Kuburat Yussuf said the participating government hospitals have played significant roles in the reduction of polio in the country particularly the FCT.
She added that with right attitude towards polio vaccination, the country would soon eradicate polio totally.
