Am comfortable wearing a face mask, I only get to remove it when am alone, after all, we are asked to wear a face mask for our own well-being so that we won’t get infected and infect those we get in contact with. If wearing a face mask will save my life then, why won’t I be comfortable wearing it?

STEVEN ADEYEYE, CIVIL SERVANT

I don’t really wear face mask except where they won’t let you gain access until you wear a face mask. Am yet to believe that coronavirus exists here in Nigeria. I just see this entire thing as a conduit to siphon Money from the government and inconvenient people. Students resumption back to school is being put on hold, many workers are laid off. But the election campaign is going on in Edo. I don’t wear a face mask except when it’s a must.

ELIZABETH SAMUEL, BUSINESSWOMAN

I am not really comfortable wearing a face mask because of my health condition, am asthmatic so, to avoid difficulty in breathing what I do is I don’t wear it whenever am alone and if am in public and I notice that am finding it difficult to breathe I would remove it. All these safety measures are for us, and for our own safety and I try my possible best to abide by it but when it’s not life-threatening I do away with it.

TOCHI IGBOKWE, MEDICAL PRACTITIONER

The government was only making efforts to curb the spread of the pandemic. Many people still don’t believe that COVID-19 is real. I have heard many argue that it is a scam, but as a health professional, I advise people to take any issue concerning their health seriously. The fact that you have not witnessed it or it has not happened to anyone close does not mean that we should ignore some confirmed preventive tip.

MERCY SOLOMON, STUDENT

I think there are other major things to focus on than celebrating World Face mask week or making wearing face mask compulsory. I think everyone should be responsible for their health than forcing people to wear face masks.

BAYO ISSAC, SELF EMPLOYED

As for me I don’t really feel comfortable wearing a face mask because sometimes I find it difficult to breathe properly with it and besides covering our nose for too long may affect the lungs, but still wearing a face mask is very important. Everyone should wear a mask when you’re in public places that are crowded or places of business. It’s the best way to reduce your risk of getting infected, infecting another person.

 ISREAL, CIVIL SERVANT

Am very comfortable wearing a face mask, because it prevents contacting and spreading coronavirus though we have other preventive measures such as frequent hand wash, avoid touching the eyes, mouth, and nose when hands are dirty, and also using medical face mask are recommended to some people as a means of source control for a person who is symptomatic in order to prevent the spread of respiratory droplets produced by coughing or sneezing.

FAITH WILLIAMS, STUDENT

It is very comfortable for me to wear a face mask because wearing a face mask will help prevent the spread of infection and prevent the individual from contracting any airborne infectious germs. Also, face mask has become more like a fashion now, you can make it match with your outfit and you will come out looking stunning. The reason why we are asked to always put on this face mask whenever we are out is that if someone coughs, talks, sneezes they could release germs into the air that may infect others nearby and we have to be extra careful because of COVID 19. Face masks are part of an infection control strategy to eliminate cross-contamination.

DEJI EMMANUEL, DOCTOR Am comfortable with wearing face masks, as we all know that face masks have been the preventive measure since the pandemic started. Masks are very important to wear at this point, especially if people are coughing or sneezing. And then masks also prevent people from directly touching their nose, and their mouth if they come in contact with viral particles, people should wear a mask when they’re around others.

You need to wear a mask when you’re around any other people because community transmission occurs when one person that unknowingly is infected with the virus spreads it to another person that has no awareness of that person’s medical contact. A mask whenever you go, it’s not a bad idea to get multiples so you can leave one in your car and one in your bag even though wearing a mask can be a hassle, it keeps people safe.
