As part of measures to ensure that people have access to potable water, as well as sanitation and hygiene services in Delta State through the World Bank-assisted Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene, SURWASH, a three-person delegation from the bank has commenced three days mission to the state.
The team, led by the Governance and Institution Consultant, World Bank, Dr Victor Osei, said they were in Delta, one of the seven participating states, in line with its Mid-Term Review, MTR, to assess the progress of the implementation.
During the mission, the team will hold high-level discussions with state government officials, State Project Implementation Unit, SPIU, implementing agencies and other key stakeholders.
According to the team, these meetings will focus on identifying areas of challenges and strategies in addressing bottlenecks to accelerate programme implementation.
Other states involved in this mission include Ekiti, Imo, Kaduna, Katsina, Gombe and Plateau, all of which are key beneficiaries of the programme aimed at enhancing and ensuring access to water for residents.
During the visit, the World Bank team will also look at the financial and technical capacity of participating states to ensure that the funds allocated are being used effectively.
