WHO Holds ‘Walk The Talk’ Exercise To promote Healthy Lifestyle

The World Health Organization Nigeria in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and other partners have staged the third edition of the Walk the Talk: ‘The Health for All Challenge’ to promote solidarity and a healthy lifestyle.

WHO Country Representative in Nigeria, Dr Walter Kazadi Mulombo said the significance of the walk is to raise awareness and remind Nigerians to be active to reduce the burden of Non Communicable Diseases, NCDs through physical activities.

According to him, “The walk aims to raise awareness on health issues such as Non Communicable Diseases, (NCDs) and need for exercises, adding that the activity is an opportunity to get everybody on board to beat the burden of Non Communicable Diseases which are on the increase. 

Mulombo stated, “We are suppose to be active everyday at least for thirty minutes that the Walk the Talk event marks the beginning of activities of the World Health Assembly which is the focus for the 2022 World Health Assembly, Health for peace and peace for health.

“The walk is an example of practicing the advice WHO gives to the world to promote health”.

He added that, peace is at the centre of everything people do and without peace, there’s no health.

It is the third edition of the global Walk the Talk and the first since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
