We’ll Lead Fight Against Cultist Succeeding Gov Udom In 2023 – Ex-Prelate Mbang

Former Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Prelate Emeritus of the Methodist Church, Nigeria, His Eminence Sunday Mbang has vowed to personally lead the battle against a known cultist taking over from incumbent governor Udom Emmanuel, as the country inches towards another crucial election year, 2023.

Mbang, 84, gave the hint in an interview in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital at the weekend, shortly after the Covid-19 exclusive prayer summit for Akwa Ibom National Assembly members.

The forum personally organized by him was tagged; ‘Do you know what tomorrow will bring, what is your life?’

The Cleric, who assured that “God will not allow any unclean politician who was into fetish, occultic and cultism practice to be elected in the state,” warning all politicians who wish to contest in the elections to distance themselves from the evil of cultism in other to avoid the wrath of God.

The former President of the World Methodist Council noted that the effect of cultism in the state was so hurting and alarming, stressing that the Christian community would not give power to a cultist and would strongly oppose anyone found hobnobbing  with such dreaded group.

“I use this opportunity to warn all those who want to have places in the upcoming election to distance themselves from cultism and diabolism or God that I serve with my whole heart will not allow them succeed in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ l serve.

“I will like to tell Akwa Ibom people that any body who is in cult and who does diabolic things, the Christian community will not allow him to become governor of this state, we will not even allow them become senators or win any political position. 

“We want people who are clean, not diabolic, not corrupt, not cultists and so on to rule us because our children, unfortunately, are in cult. We want clean people so that our children will know that since their fathers are not there, they should not be there too,” he said.

He explained that the essence of the prayer summit was to dedicate all the National Assembly members from the state to God against the ravaging Corona Virus pandemic.

The cleric, who retired since 2006, has been active in the politics of Akwa Ibom since the era of former governor Gidswill Akpabio.

He led forum of spiritual fathers called Fathers of Faith in the state to the prayer summit meant to insulate politicians who have been so vulnerable to the pandemic that start ravaging the world early last year.

According to him,  though the virus was hitting hard on people across the globe, those who believe and look up to God only  would be protected.

Meanwhile, Senator representing Uyo Senatorial District, Sen. Bassey Albert on behalf of the ten National Assembly members from the state, praised God for sparing their lives while discharging their respective national assignments amidst the pandemic.

“God in heaven had chosen ten of us out of over 7 million people to represent the interest of this state in the National Assembly, it is a privilege.

“We are highly favoured, we know what befell this country in the last twelve months but in the next two months all ten of us will be celebrating our one year anniversary of God’s intervention.

Albert, who lamented that the Senate had lost five of it members out of 109 in the current session, also disclosed that the sister House of Representatives had so far lost about four  out of the 360 members  and praised the God Almighty that “all the Senators and House of Representatives members from the state are strong and healthy”.

He said that anybody that does not believe that the state belongs to God only deceives himself.

The Senator thanked Fathers of Faith in the state for their fervent prayers for them and appealed to all Akwa Ibomites to adhere to the non-pharmaceutical measures of Covid-19 to help flattened the curve.

Onofiok Luke, Senator Representing Uyo Senatorial District, Obong Bassey Albert, Senator Representing Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Engr. Christoper Ekpeyoung, Senator Representing Eket Senatorial District, Mrs. Akon Ayakeyi amongst others.
