The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, has revealed plans to partner with the private sector in the rehabilitation and development of stadium facilities across the country.

He made this known on Tuesday during the opening of a two-day Capacity Building Workshop for Sports Officers and Professionals of the NSC, held at the Press Conference Room of the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

According to Dikko, the Commission is determined to restore the Abuja National Stadium and use it as a model to attract private sector investment in other stadium projects nationwide.

“Once we fix the Abuja National Stadium, we will invite the private sector to come and see what we’ve done, and identify how and where they can contribute,” Dikko stated.

He also encouraged sports officers and professionals to rededicate themselves to their responsibilities, stressing the importance of their roles in bringing joy to Nigerians through sports.

“God has given us the opportunity to manage what brings happiness to millions. We are privileged, and with that comes the responsibility to work harder and deliver success. We hope that, by the end of this workshop, we will see significant improvement in sports administration,” he added.

The workshop will continue on Wednesday with insightful paper presentations. In the morning session, Barr. Musa Ahmadu will speak on “Change Management in National Sports Federations,” while HRH Alhassan Saleh Yakmut will present a paper titled “Remodeling Sports Governance and Development in Nigeria.”

Following a lunch break, sessions seven and eight will feature papers by Dr. Samuel Ogbondeminu and Mr. Olusoji Adeniran on “Keeping National Federations Compliant in the Anti-Doping Chain” and “Mastering Organizational Skills for Work Proficiency and Performance,” respectively.

It will be recalled that four papers were presented on the opening day of the workshop on Tuesday.
