The Presiding Bishop of a Christian denomination, Team Impact Ministry Network, Williams Chanomi, has stated that he and his colleagues sighted at the unveiling of Senator Kashim Shettima, the running mate to Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, are not fake nor impostors.

In a statement personally signed by Bishop Chanomi on Friday, he said they actually attended the event because as men of God, they were not supposed to be partisan, but carry everybody along.

In the statement he said, “Our attention was drawn to the media especially, the social media backlash on Wednesday 20th July, 2022 visit by some Bishops to the official unveiling of the Vice Presidential candidate of the APC, in Abuja.

“We want to make it categorically that we are not fake nor any member of those that were in attendance. That as men of God who are not partisan, we owe Nigerians a spiritual duty to offer prayers for supplication especially, at a trying moment like this. APC event cannot be an exception.

Chanomi revealed further that the last Wednesday visit is not the first incidence where they were invited to offer prayers.

He said they were invited in 2015 to pray for the reconciliation between Ex. President Goodluck Jonathan and Ex. Gov. Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State respectively.

“We wish to inform in clear terms too, that attending such an event doesn’t in anyway endorse any candidature of any political party nor it’s candidate.

The clergyman said they were not paid any money for attending the event as widely speculated at the social media, but were there just to offer prayers.

“No financial transaction, inducement or any business engagement of any kind took place between us and any other official for the holy assignment.
