Troops Repel Terrorists Attack On Borno Community

Troops of the Nigerian Army have repelled an attack by insurgents of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) at Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State, forcing them to retreat.

According to the residents of the town who spoke with AljazirahNigeria, the insurgents laid siege in the area around 5:35am, setting houses and public property ablaze.

A security source confirmed that the attackers could not stay up to 30 minutes, but at least 10 to 13 people sustained gunshots wounds at Kala village near Damboa town.

“I can confirm to you that insurgents made an attempt this morning but it was not successful, the troops on the ground in Damboa town thwarted it immediately,” the source said.

A member of Civilians Joint Task Force (JTF) who did not mention his name confirmed that some locals sustained gunshot injuries at Kala, a suburb village near Damboa town, as stated by the medium.

“The troops did a great job and as we speak now, there is jubilation in Damboa now,” the source said.

AljazirahNigeria could recall that this is the third attack on Damboa in a month; the recent was barely one week where an Army General and three other officers were killed in Chibok/Askira Uba in southern Borno in an ambush attack.
