Troops Neutralise Bandits, Rescue 10 Kidnap Victims In Zamfara, Katsina

Troops of Operation Sahel Sanity has neutralize scores of bandits, rescued several kidnapped victims, arrested more suspects and their collaborators in recent operations in Zamfara and Katsina States. Acting Director
Defence Media Operations, Brigadier General, Bernard Onyeuko has revealed Monday.

Onyeuko in a press release sent to newsmen in Gusau disclosed that two bandits were neutralised while 12 other suspects were apprehended adding that one dane gun, one motorcycle and two cutlasses were recovered from the suspects in addition to one AK-47 rifle and one motorcycle left behind by the fleeing bandits.

Ten kidnap victims were rescued at various locations in Zamfara state according to Onyeuko stressing that the troops arrested a suspected bandit informant one Bello Abdulrahman around Mashaya – Anguwan Abuja area of Bena town who after interrogation revealed that he was responsible for giving out information to bandits on troops’ movements and identifying persons to be kidnapped for ransom in Bena general area.

Further investigation reveals that the suspect has strong connections with Rosha, Sadi Kaboru, Musa Dan Umoru and Dogo Gide who are notorious bandits in the area.

Onyeuko said troops conducted a raid operation at some identified bandits hideouts at Gamji Village in Bakura local government of Zamfara State and arrested three suspects who confessed their involvements in recent cattle rustling activities at Kwaya, Sabon Birni and Baure villages.

All arrested suspects are undergoing interrogation while effort is ongoing to apprehend other criminals in the general area.

The Nigerian army urged and encouraged the general public to continue to avail troops with timely and credible information that will assist them in their operations
