Troops Arrest Suspect With Agric Empowerment Tools In Yobe

Troops of 233 Battalion have confirmed the arrest of another suspect conveying Yobe State agricultural empowerment tools distributed to farmers across the state for food security.

A statement signed by the Special Adviser on Security, Brigadier-General Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd), said the suspect, Abdulmumini Lawan aged 39 who is a Golf 3 Wagon driver with vehicle plate no: NFD 258 XA was conveying the agricultural empowerment tools when he was arrested by troops.

According to him, the suspect was conveying four trashers suspected to be items issued for empowerment by the Yobe State government.

He stated that the items were being conveyed without any waybill or letter of allocation from Damaturu to Potiskum for one Alhaji Umar Abdulrahman with Phone No: 08038212110.

General Abdulsalam stated that efforts to reach the number proved abortive, adding that the suspect and the items have been handed over to Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, for further action.

AljazirahNigeria recalls that Governor Mai Mala Buni had distributed N14 billion mega agricultural empowerment tools to farmers across the state, in an efforts to boost food security and sufficiency.

Governor Buni has appealed to security agencies to arrest anybody found diverting the empowerment equipment, adding that such saboteurs should 5made to face the full wrath of the law.
