The Concept of Islamic Unity And Its Necessity

At the outset, I would like to congratulate all Muslims, especially Nigerians, on the birthday of the great Prophet Muhammad.

The characteristic of the Islamic Ummah is Islamic unity. In other words, the concept of the Islamic Ummah is not formed in the absence of an all-round unity. Without unity, the Islamic Ummah loses many of its characteristics, including true and sincere faith and belief in God Almighty.

The foundations of Islamic unity depend on the following concepts and presuppositions.

Expected differences in styles, approaches, possibilities, perspectives, knowledge levels, cultures, methods of inference, and research-oriented beliefs all create understandable disagreements that have preoccupied our great scientists for centuries.

  • The need to take a unified position on the fundamental principles of Islam, which are considered undeniable and common to all Muslims.
  • Common virtues that constitute the common characteristics of the Islamic Ummah and that all Muslims are obliged to adhere to in order to be a member of the Ummah
  • A unified political stance on global issues, especially those related to the main enemies of Islam, i.e. the infidels, hypocrites and arrogant powers, as well as a unified stance in defense of the sanctity of Islam.
  • Islam addresses all Muslims equally and without any discrimination and reminds them of their shared responsibilities towards Islam and the Islamic society  .
  • Islam calls on Muslims to collectively fight against tyranny and oppression

  •  The Islamic system can play a major role in creating the required wisdom among believers, which leads to Islamic balance, closeness, and unity, because all Muslims face a common Qibla. In the month of Ramadan, the entire Islamic Ummah willingly and willingly enters the process of purification by fasting, and in fact, by expanding their divine human qualities and deepening the roots of these qualities in their bodies and souls. Likewise, the Hajj, during which Muslims come together from all corners of the world to train their souls and achieve unparalleled benefits in their material and spiritual lives, is an important platform for Islamic unity.

These characteristics definitely affect the worldview and life of human beings, and show that when someone follows the path of the divine prophets and strives for the establishment of the rule of God Almighty on earth and the formation of a pious Islamic society, the whole world begins to support him.

Considering that Imam Khomeini, the leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, was one of the founders of Islamic unity in the world, in the rest of this article, we will try to mention some of his views on unity.

Muslims should be awake, Muslims should be alert that if a dispute takes place among Sunni and Shi’ite brothers, it is harmful to all of us, it is harmful to all Muslims. Those who want to sow discord are neither Sunni nor Shia, they are agents of the superpowers and work for them.

  • If Islamic brotherhood comes to the fore among Islamic countries, such will become a great power, which none of the global powers will be able to cope with.
  • We must pay attention that we are all Muslims and we all believe in the Qur’an; we all believe in Tawheed and must work to serve the Qur’an and Tawheed.
  • If the Muslims were a united, single fist, none can rise against them.
  • All Muslims are brothers and equal, none is separate from another and all must be under the banner of Islam and monotheism.
  • Disunity among Shias and the Sunnis is what arrogant powers want. If there happens a dispute between the Iranian nation and the other nations, or between the Sunni brothers and the Shia brothers, it will be to the disadvantage of all of us, of all Muslims. Those who want to cause disunity are neither of the Sunnis nor of the Shias. They are the agents of the Super Powers and they are serving them.

  • Today all Islamic denominations are facing the Satanic powers who want to uproot Islam because they do know that unity of the Muslim nations would not be in their interest. Today is the day on which all the Muslims of the whole world must come together. Today is not the day for a group in one place to say: “Only we”, and another group in another place to say: “Only we”. Today is the time when all are to be united on the basis of the rule of Islam and the judgments of the Qur’an. The dispute among Muslims, in whatever way it may be, is prohibited by the Qur’an. Dispute will bring them failure and effaces the attractive qualities of man. This is the command of Allah, the Generou
