Gunmen suspected to be members of  Lakurawa terrorist group  launched a large-scale attack on Alela village in Sokoto State, setting houses ablaze and rustling an unspecified number of livestock.

A counter insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama made this known in a post on his X account yesterday.

Makama disclosed that the attack occurred at about 7pm, with the assailants in their hundreds and riding on approximately 50 motorcycles.

“Eyewitnesses said the bandits stormed the village in a coordinated assault, firing sporadically to scare residents before burning down several homes and fleeing with domestic animals,” Makama said.

He added that security operatives have been mobilised to the area and efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing attackers.
