Nigerian singer Tems has expressed gratitude to veteran artist Seyi Sodimu for his iconic 1997 hit Love Me JeJe, which inspired her latest music project.
The Grammy-winning artist, known for her soulful voice and distinct sound, recently sampled the classic track, reigniting nostalgia among fans while introducing it to a new generation.
Speaking in a recent interview, Tems credited Sodimu’s timeless melody and storytelling as a major influence on her creative process.
She emphasised how Nigerian classics continue to shape contemporary music and said honoring the song felt like a full-circle moment in her journey.
In response, Seyi Sodimu praised Tems for reinterpreting Love Me JeJe with a fresh perspective. He described it as a testament to the enduring legacy of Nigerian music and expressed his joy in seeing young artists pay homage to the pioneers of Afrobeats.
