Take Interest In Those Who Govern You, Ortom Urges Christians

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has challenged the church to encourage its members to secure their permanent voter cards, PVCs, to enable them be in position to elect God fearing people in leadership of the country for it to champion development.

Ortom who was addressing a Christian congregation at NKST Yina, Makurdi, during a fund raising ceremony to complete the church building and other projects said time has come for Christians to take interest in those who govern them, to ensure good governance. 

The Governor represented by Commissioner for Rural Development, Engineer Victor Ukaha, assured the people of the state that he would not succumb to any pressure to handover the state to foreigners, adding that he would equally continue to speak against injustice and urged Christians to be firm in defending their faith irrespective of persecution.

Governor Ortom who commended the resident pastor of the church, Dr Kurugh Antiev, for the good work he was doing in terms of spiritual and physical transformation of the church, promised on behalf of his administration to always support the church of God.

In an exhortation, guest speaker at the event and Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Benue State, Rev Dr Akpen Leva, who spoke on the topic: God does not forget the works of his people, charged Christians to always give willingly for God to bless them.

Also speaking, resident pastor in a closing remark advised Christians to always pray for people in leadership positions so that God will touch their hearts to do what the society could benefit from and expressed appreciation to Governor Ortom and other guests for making the event a success.
