The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has emerged as one of the leading government agencies in the 2024 Mid-Year Transparency and Efficiency Compliance Report released by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).
The report, which covers the period from January to June 2024, highlights SON’s commitment to efficient public service delivery.
According to the report, SON secured second place among 20 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), achieving a compliance score of 78.2%. The Director of Public Relations for SON, Mrs. Foluso Bolaji, disclosed this in a statement, noting that despite ongoing bureaucratic challenges and issues with consequence management, SON’s performance remains exemplary.
The top performer in the report was the Nigerian Content Development Management Board (NCDMB), with a score of 80.1%, followed closely by SON. The Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) came in third with a score of 74.8%.
The report praised the progress made by MDAs in adhering to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and advancing digitalization efforts, reflecting a positive trend in public service delivery. It also noted that over 60% of MDAs scored above average in this report, a significant improvement from the previous period, where only 30% achieved above-average scores.
Mrs. Bolaji emphasized that the outlook for efficient public service delivery is promising, particularly with the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration’s ongoing commitment to fostering a conducive business environment.
The Efficiency Compliance Ranking measures the performance of MDAs in delivering services in a timely, cost-effective, and customer-focused manner, with particular emphasis on their adherence to SLAs, cost management, procedural efficiency, and the One Government directive.
