Sokoto State governor, Ahmed Aliyu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promote Islamic activities across the state.
The governor stated this at the commissioning of the renovated and upgraded Sultan Muhammadu Maccido Jumu’at Mosque in Sokoto.
The mosque’s renovation and upgrading will provide a conducive environment for worship and community activities, demonstrating the state government’s commitment to preserve Islamic heritage and values.
The state government’s renovation and reconstruction of Jumu’at mosques is nearing completion, with several mosques already commissioned.
According to Governor Aliyu, “This project is part of our efforts to provide conducive environments for worship and community activities, and to promote Islamic values and social cohesion among our people.”
Some of the commissioned mosques include Sheik Ayuba Musa Lukuwa Jumu’at Mosque, Sheik Abubakar Mahmud Gumi Jumu’at Mosque, Ruggar Waru Jumu’at Mosque, Wamakko Central Jumu’at Mosque, and Yabo Central Jumu’at Mosque.
The governor said the initiative would help build trust and foster a sense of partnership between the state government and Islamic institutions.
The state government has also intensified efforts to enhance Islamic education through necessary support to provide quality education in line with Islamic values.
The Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Dr Jabir Maihulla commended the governor for his commitment to promote Islamic activities in the state.
Maihulla noted that the renovation and upgrading of Jumu’at mosques is a testament to the governor’s dedication to preserve Islamic values.
Also speaking, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Muhammad Dingyadi praised Governor Aliyu’s administration for its efforts to promote Islamic development and social cohesion.
He noted that the governor’s commitment to support Islamic institutions and social welfare programmes is a step in the right direction.
