Following an industrial accident that happened in a Steel Plant in the Ogijo area of Sagamu Local Government in Ogun State on Sunday, 2nd March, 2025, Minister of Steel Development Suaibu Abubakar Audu has on behalf of the ministry commiserated with the families of the affected persons who may have either lost loved ones or suffered injuries from the incident, the local and state governments, and the entire citizenry.
The minister in a self-signed statement issued Friday assured that the government would take decisive steps to determine both the immediate and remote causes of the accident.
He said, “The ministry is currently putting in place effective modalities to ensure the sanitization of the steel industry in Nigeria and shall immediately conduct a thorough investigation. Necessary steps will be taken to ensure that this unfortunate incident does not reoccur.”
“We will continue to create an enabling environment for the development of the steel industry in Nigeria to catalyze the industrial development of the nation.”
While urging industry stakeholders to close ranks against repeat of such an unfortunate incident in the steel industry, Audu promised: “We will continue to create enabling environment for the development of the Steel Industry to catalyse the long-awaited industrial development of the nation.
