Nigerian musician and Afrobeat star Seun Kuti has opened up about his recent time behind bars, offering a candid glimpse into the life of celebrities in prison.
In a revealing interview, the son of the legendary Fela Kuti detailed how prison strips celebrities of their status and forces them to confront harsh realities.
Seun, who was detained earlier this year following an altercation with a police officer, described his experience as humbling.
He noted that, contrary to popular belief, famous individuals receive no special treatment and are treated just like every other inmate. “Once you’re inside, they see you finish,” Seun said, explaining that any illusion of fame quickly fades.
He also criticized the notion that wealth and influence can shield public figures from the law, pointing out that the justice system remains unforgiving, regardless of celebrity status. His revelations have sparked discussions on social media, with many fans applauding his honesty and insight.
