Senate Probe Of Oil Industry Will Fail -Security Expert

A security expert and good governance advocate, Dr Jackson Lekan Ojo on Thursday said the plan by the Nigerian Senate to probe the oil industry will fail as it will end up as another money-making jamboree.

In a press statement, Dr Jackson Ojo reminded Nigerians of the probe of the $16 billion power probe and the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, N81 billion probe by the National Assembly and others that did not see the light of the day.

According to him, the probe process by the National Assembly has become a noise-making process and diversionary tactics.

Dr Jackson Ojo, who is also a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, advised Nigerians not to put any hope in the outcome of any high-powered probe by the federal lawmakers.

“I will never have any trust in them and I urge Nigerians not to have any trust in them.

“The chairman of the National Assembly today, Senator Goodwill Akpabio, sometime ago the Minister of the Ministry of Niger Delta handed over the report of the management of NDDC to him and what happened thereafter?

“They said they want to do of NDDC. They probed and spent a lot of money but at the end of the day there was no report of either somebody was found guilty or not. There was no report, nothing of such.

“The process of another probe will be a waste of public funds”.

Dr. Jackson Ojo added that Nigerians have lost hope in the National Assembly led by Senator Akpabio.

“During the Olusegun Obasanjo regime $16 billion power project was to be investigated, what happened at the end of the land?

“I have now seen in the history of the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that if they do probe nobody will be prosecuted and the result will not even be made public.

“This is another jamboree, this is another way of wasting public resources.

“Don’t be surprised that this committee will just go and meet the ministry or parastatal they are supposed to probe and bargain and at the end of the probe they will not make the report public”.
