Security Agencies: Expert Harps On Community Participation, Teamwork

Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Habu Sani (rtd) has emphasised the importance of community participation and teamwork among security agencies in addressing the security challenges facing Nigeria.

Speaking to journalists in Sokoto, DIG Sani commended the Sokoto State government for its support to security agencies, particularly in the provision of operational vehicles and logistics.

He also lauded the establishment of community guard policing, describing it as a welcome development.

Sani noted that the provision of adequate support and logistics to community guards have boosted their morale and enhanced their ability to complement the efforts of regular security agencies.

The security expert emphasised the critical role that communities play in maintaining security, noting that they are often the first line of defense against crime and insecurity.

He stressed the need for communities to participate in security efforts, through community policing, neighborhood watch and other initiatives.

He also urged security agencies to work together and share intelligence, coordinate operations and respond to security threats.

The retired police chief noted that building trust and confidence among communities is essential in encouraging them to participate in security efforts.

He emphasised the importance of continuous engagement between security agencies and communities.
