SDP Slams Buhari Over Ekiti Election, Vows To Challenge Outcome

By MBACHU GODWIN, Abuja

The Social Democratic party, SDP, has vowed to sue the process of the just concluded Ekiti governorship election, adding that the system was full of fraud.

This is even as it accused Muhammadu Buhari of compromising the process leading to the election.

National Chairman of the Party, Shehu Musa Gabam  stated this at a world press conference held in Abuja, yesterday.

Gabam lamented that Nigerian democracy is under threat as politicians have reduced citizens into commodities that could be bought.” We reject the result of the Ekiti governorship election based on facts available.

This is part of what took People’s Democratic Party(PDP) out of power today, reducing citizens into commodities that could be bought. I believe the National Assembly should rework the electoral Act, no justification where someone scored 100, 000 votes and was declared governor, so the election Ekiti is unacceptable  and will challenge it to the supreme court. we will not allow this impunity to continue, this is part of the reason why the country is subjugated.

The president has compromised the election and was not neutral. we expected a transparent election with human face, above all we thought that Buhari the president who made several promises would have kept to his promise but he chewed his words “Nigeria democracy is under threat and I don’t know who will salvage it.

“It is only God that can save this country. If this is the type of leaders that would continue, then the future is in trouble. We are demanding a system that will create jobs.

“The Ekiti governorship election was compromised, Nobody owns this country. We all own it. You are just privileged to be elected. If they believe they can loot the resources of the country, they can’t carry it away” he lamented.

Former governor of the state and Social Democratic Party  governorship Candidate in the just concluded Ekiti election,  Engr Olusegun Oni said he agreed with the party chairman that the conscience of electorates have been bought over by desperate politicians and be challenged at the court.

“This country belongs to all of us and we will do everything to rescue the nation from desperate politicians”
