FROM RABILU ABUBAKAR GOMBE
Forum of North-East State Chairmen of Social Democratic Party, SDP, has criticised the federal government for excluding the North East zone from the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones, SAPZ, initiative, calling it a deliberate and unjust act.
This was revealed in a communiqué read by the SDP Chairman in Gombe State, Malam Adamu Modibbo, during the forum’s zonal meeting yesterday.
The meeting, attended by SDP chairmen in Gombe, Bauchi, Adamawa, and Yobe States, focused on party unity and strategic planning for future electoral victories.
In a strong statement, it condemned the exclusion of the North East, emphasizing its vast agricultural potential and critical need for development projects.
“It is unacceptable that a region with immense agricultural resources and one of the largest land masses in Nigeria is overlooked in such a vital national initiative.
We urge President Bola Tinubu and the federal government to immediately address this injustice and ensure equitable participation in development projects,” Modibbo stated.
The Forum also expressed unwavering support for the national leadership of the SDP, led by Alhaji Shehu Gabam, commending his commitment to foster unity and promote the party as a credible political alternative.
They called for strict adherence to the rule of law by all arms of government and security agencies, warning against any action that will undermine constitutional rights.
The Forum highlighted the increasing number of defectors and new members joining the SDP in the North East, describing it as evidence of growing public trust in the party’s vision and leadership.
As part of its resolutions, it pledged to strengthen internal collaboration and mobilise effectively ahead of the 2027 general elections.
