Vice Chancellor, Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education, Kano, Professor Yahaya Bunkure, said the school will admit 2,000 students for the 2024/2025 academic session.
Bunkure told journalists yesterday in Kano that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, allocated the slot to the university.
He said the figure was higher than the 1,740 students admitted in the 2023/2024 academic year.
According to him, the university pegs admission cut-off mark at 145, adding that it would accord preference to candidates who scored higher marks.
“JAMB has set aside 140 as the minimum score for admission into any university in the country. We are the only university in the whole of the country that decided on 145 as minimum score for admission.”
On infrastructure, Bunkure said the university has awarded N370 million for the construction of lecture halls, staff rooms and other structures.
While enjoining the students to shun cultism, Bunkure warned that the university would not condone indiscipline and immorality.
“We have our code of conduct which every student must adhere to because we don’t tolerate any act of misconduct.” (NAN)
