Country Director of Rotary International, Professor Emmanuel Lufadeju has announced that Nigeria ranks highest in humanitarian services in Africa.
Lufadeju announced this while opening a three-day media training workshop on Reproductive, Maternal and Child Health, RMCH+N, in Gombe.
The workshop empowered 20 journalists from various media outlets to learn and disseminate news globally.
Represented by Rotarian Muhammad Ndus, Professor Lufadeju said Nigeria received the second ‘Programme of Scale, PoS’ award, a $2 million grant, for improving maternity and child health, dubbed ‘Together for Healthy Families in Nigeria.’
He emphasized that Rotary’s interventions had significantly reduced neonatal and maternal mortality rates in Nigeria, urging continued support.
Rotary’s maternal and child health projects in Nigeria have improved accessibility, availability, affordability, and quality care in primary health care centres.
According to him, the organisation has implemented 49 facilities in seven local governments, including 42 PHCs and seven secondary facilities, across three states and the FCT.
During the workshop, the Director-General of Gombe Media Corporation, Malam Ibrahim Isa taught participants about effective writing techniques, emphasising the importance of accurate headlines that do not mislead readers.
